How to Install Chain Link Fence?

chain link fence

Chain link fence is a widely used fencing material, suitable for the protection of construction sites, sports fields, gardens, and farms. Its installation requires certain skills to ensure that the structure is stable, beautiful and durable. This article will explain how to install chain link fence in detail and recommend an efficient automatic chain link fence machine to help you easily produce high-quality chain link fence.

Chain Link Fence Installation Steps

How to Install Chain Link Fence

  1. Measuring and Laying Out

Goal: Ensure that the fence is in the correct position and that the line meets the requirements.
Mark the starting point, end point and turning position, and mark the fence line with lime or rope.
The distance between the posts is generally 2-3 meters, and the width needs to be reserved at the gate.
Note: The rope must be straightened to avoid bending due to uneven terrain.

  1. Present Ground Treatment

Goal: Improve the stability of the foundation and ensure a firm installation.
Clear stones, weeds, tree roots, etc., and replace (sand, gravel) or compact the weak foundation.
Level the slope to ensure that the fence line transitions naturally with the terrain.
Note: The foundation must be solid to prevent the fence from tilting or sinking later.

  1. Slope Treatment and Excavation of Foundation Pit

Goal: Ensure that the foundation of the column is stable and consistent with the slope.
According to the terrain slope treatment, excavate the foundation pit (depth is 1/3 of the column height and width is 2-3 times the column diameter).
Note: Gravel can be placed at the bottom of the foundation pit to enhance drainage and stability.

  1. Temporary Positioning of Columns

Goal: Ensure accurate installation of columns.
Temporarily fix the columns with sandbags or brackets, and check verticality and straightness.
Fine-tune the position of the columns to ensure that they meet the design requirements.
Note: Check the straightness every 5-10 columns.
The curve section should ensure a smooth transition and natural bending.

  1. Installing Chain Link Fence

Goal: Ensure that the fence is flat and firmly connected.
Unfold the fence and start installing it from the starting column, using tension rods and binding wires to secure it.
Use a mesh puller or hand tool to tighten the fence to ensure that it is flat and not loose, and then connect it section by section according to the spacing of the columns.
Note: The spacing of the binding wires is uniform (30-40cm), and the fence can be cut and adjusted if it is too long.

  1. Casting Concrete Foundation

Goal: Improve the long-term stability of the column.
Pour the concrete into the column foundation pit in a ratio of 1:2:4 (cement: sand: gravel), smooth it, and let it stand for 24-48 hours.
Note: Antifreeze in winter and regular watering in summer.
Avoid foundation deviation or uneven concrete during pouring.

  1. Overall Tightening and Adjustment

Goal: Ensure that the overall structure of the fence is beautiful and stable.
Check whether the fence is flat and tightly connected to the posts.
Adjust the tightness of the fence and the straightness of the posts, and clean up the construction site.
Note: Ensure that all fixing points are firm to prevent loosening.
